Steam Tug Wattle is Australia’s last remaining operational steam-powered tugboat and a living icon of our rich maritime history.
Built in 1933 by the Cockatoo Docks & Engineering Co. in Sydney, this historic vessel represents the pinnacle of early 20th-century Australian engineering.
Powered by her original compound steam engine and a oil-fired boiler, Wattle served the Royal Australian Navy and commercial ports for decades.
Today, the vessel is being beautifully restored by passionate volunteers of the not-for-profit charity “Bay Steam Maritime Museum”
Following completion of the restoration she will offer passengers a chance to step aboard and experience a rare, authentic journey back to the golden age of steam.
