Melbourne’s Seaworks to Host Epic Historical Pirate Exhibition This Easter

Seaworks Maritime Precinct in Williamstown is preparing to welcome one of the most immersive historical experiences to hit Melbourne:  PirateFest, a spectacular exhibition charting the true history of pirates from the ancient world to the infamous Golden Age of Piracy in the 18th century.

Opening for the Easter school holidays from 4th April 2026, PirateFest will transform the heritage waterfront precinct at 82 Nelson Place into a swashbuckling voyage through centuries of maritime legend, mystery, and adventure.

Step Into the World of Pirates

PirateFest is far more than a display of pirate memorabilia it is a fully immersive theatrical experience. Visitors will wander through atmospheric sets including dark taverns, pirate hideouts, and treasure-filled chambers, each meticulously crafted to transport guests back to the most notorious era of the high seas. Hyper-realistic pirate mannequins, dramatic theatre props, and cutting-edge holographic ghostly captains bring the stories of mutiny, treasure, and betrayal vividly to life.

At the heart of the exhibition are genuine historical artefacts including maps, maritime relics, weapons, and glittering plunder carefully curated to reveal how piracy shaped trade, exploration, and the great struggles for power across the world’s oceans. Thirteen remarkable treasures are among the highlights on display.

Adventure for the Whole Family

PirateFest has been designed with families firmly in mind. Young buccaneers can embark on a swashbuckling treasure hunt, follow clues through the exhibition, and dig for hidden loot in the dedicated Pirate Treasure Dig. Visitors of all ages can have their photo taken with the pirates and hear rousing tales of life at sea making PirateFest the perfect school holiday outing for Melbourne families.
