Victorian Wins Ocean Fine Art Photographer of the Year

We are thrilled to congratulate Marcia Riederer on being crowned Ocean Fine Art Photographer of the Year at the Ocean Photographer of the Year 2025 Awards in London – presented by Oceanographic Magazine and Blancpain

What makes this achievement even more special is that Marcia is from the Bellarine Peninsula,  a “local” (just across the Bay from Williamstown) Victorian talent now recognised on the global stage.

When we first set out to bring this extraordinary international exhibition to Seaworks, we thought: “Wouldn’t it be incredible if someone from Victoria was crowned the winner?” To see that dream come true is something we are beyond proud to celebrate.

Two Australian photographers took home top category prizes:

  • Craig Parry (Lennox Head, NSW) – Human Connection winner for his powerful drone image of a stranded Humpback whale rescue attempt on Seven Mile Beach.
  • Marcia Riederer (Melbourne) – Fine Art winner with her breathtaking image of a Dwarf Minke whale on the Great Barrier Reef.

In total, 13 Australian or Australian-based photographers were named finalists this year, a huge representation showcasing our deep ties to the ocean.
